Choosing AFT Insulation
Spray foam insulation can reduce a home’s energy consumption, contribute to environmental sustainability, and offer a healthy living environment. This is why the choice of insulation is such a significant component in today’s green building world.
When choosing your insulation, the R-value is a key consideration. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulating power. Cellulose insulation, such as SANCTUARY, has an R-value of 3.7 per inch and provides excellent thermal protection in both warm and cold climates.
Safety
When used in combination with firestop systems, insulated walls and piping protect workers from exposure to hot surfaces. Insulation also helps to control surface temperatures and prevents condensation in ducts, air conditioning, and plumbing lines. In addition, insulated pipe covers improve the appearance of exposed plumbing and air conditioning pipes and reduce fire risk in building interiors.
Environmental
NIA member companies are committed to reducing energy costs and the associated pollution through the use of insulation. By reducing the surface temperature of piping and equipment, insulation can significantly reduce the energy required to maintain operating conditions, which in turn lowers operational costs.
NIA members have an important role to play in promoting the safety of workers who work around hazardous materials such as asbestos and lead. In addition to ensuring that proper safety measures are in place on the job site, NIA members strive to provide tools that help specify the correct insulation thickness needed to bring piping and equipment to safe working levels.
